SINOPSIS:En 1865, tras
el asesinato de Abraham Lincoln, ocho personas son detenidas y acusadas de
conspirar para matar al presidente, al vicepresidente y al secretario de
Estado. Entre ellas está Mary Surratt (Robyn Wright), la dueña de una
pensión, donde John Wilkes Booth (Toby Kebbell), el autor material del
magnicidio, y sus cómplices se reunieron y planearon el atentado. Mientras
el resentimiento contra el Sur domina a las autoridades de Washington, el
joven abogado Frederick Aiken (James MacAvoy), héroe de guerra unionista, se
ve obligado a defender a Surrat ante un tribunal militar. Sin embargo, muy
pronto empieza a sospechar que su defendida podría estar siendo utilizada
como señuelo y rehén para capturar a su hijo John (Johnny Simmons). Con el
país entero en contra de Surratt, Aiken es el único que se encuentra en
